Section 1 – Basic Purpose and Objective
This position is responsible for welding assemblies in a manufacturing production environment. Grinding and cleaning of weldments as needed.
Section 2 – Responsibilities
Set-up and operate Shielded-Metal-Arc-Welding (SMAW) Stick, Gas-Metal-Arc-Welding (GMAW) MIG and Gas-Tungsten-Arc-Welding (GTAW) TIG weld stations and fixtures for a variety of weldments and assemblies. Note: MIG and Stick are a must.
Experience in welding Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel a must, Aluminum is a plus.
Identify components, fixtures, tools, feeds, amperage settings and set-ups in order to reduce possible scrap parts and achieve good welds the first time.
Perform first piece inspection of welds before continuing with the entire job.
Grind, clean and perform other secondary operations as needed on weldments.
Ability to program and run (Miller PA350S) welding robot a plus.
Log in and out of Jobs using the Job Boss station provided to place time on jobs.
Meet the estimated job times and due dates as set forth in the standards and Job Travelers.
Maintain a neat work environment using 5S and Lean techniques to ensure overall good housekeeping.
Communicate effectively with manager and associates when there are questions, uncertainty and during normal processes to ensure quality product built right the first time.
Section 3 – Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Measurement of Effectivity
4 years experience with Stick, IG, TIG welding.
Must read and understand drawings and blueprints in English.
Knowledge of how to use all hand tools involved in welding and measurement.
Understands and can effectively use measurement devices such as Tape Measure and Weld Profile Gages to complete proper FAI and IPI documentation.
Understands proper methods to set-up and run Stick, MIG and TIG weld stations, welding lathes, Port welders and other standard welding equipment.
Knows how to read drawings which includes interpreting Weld Symbols, work instructions and job travelers.
Can perform some secondary machining operations on manual drills.
Knowledge of feeds, amperage settings, energy, angle, materials, gasses, tips, rods, electrodes, safety equipment and use of weld equipment.
Knows how to physically lift, move parts and use the hoist if a part is too heavy to safely move manually.
Documentation
Able to read and understand drawings, work instructions, identify products and other documentation pertinent to this position.
Able to take measurements and record them on FAI and IPI docs.
Initiative
Willing to learn new skills, expand knowledge and seek personal development. Take initiative to understand new welding techniques.
Willing to learn and execute Lean processes and identify areas for improvement.
Willing to use ISO9001 procedures and work instructions.

Additional Experience and Requirements:
Must speak English.
Graduate of welding school – prior welding work experience a plus.
Able to manually lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
Eyesight must be good enough to meet responsibilities as detailed above.
Must pass basic math test.
Ability to demonstrate and provide Weld Test samples on sight.
General Information:
In general the client is looking for someone with working experience in a manufacturing production environment. We will consider both temp to hire and/ or direct to hire candidates. Candidates must have experience with Stick, MIG, and TIG welding using Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (TIG). Experience welding Aluminum (Tig or Mig) that is a plus..
Lastly, candidates should have the ability to read drawings which includes interpreting Weld Symbols, reading work instructions and use of measurement devices such as Tape Measure and Weld Profile Gages in order to complete FAI’s (First Article of Inspection) and IPI (In Process Inspections) forms.
