About the company:
Our client, an international firm in the recycling and waste industry has been operating in the United States for the last 20 years, is seeking a Field Service Technician for their small but growing team in Bensenville, Illinois. You will be a part of the team of 4 people including you, whereas two are in sales and you and our existing field engineer will be in charge of the technical aspect.
This is a cross functional role with dual roles:
As a Service Technician you will be performing new equipment installations, testing equipment, and performing preventive maintenance on existing machines at client sites located throughout the United States. This aspect of the job will require travel by driving or air.
As Technical Support you will become a vital resource for technical support in the office. This will require you to assist customers (off site) and dealers with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and other service work as well as assist with aftersales.
Requirements:
- Provide service and installation of all equipment.
- Expert level problem solver/troubleshooter with an understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems. Well organized, process driven, with logical thought-process, the ability to make decisions and act on them.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams/schematics for new machine installations as well as troubleshooting for clients existing machines.
- Knowledge of control circuits. (Sensors, E stop circuits, Relays, Contactors, and Safety Controllers) Knowledge and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems.
- Flexibility regarding your schedule. Sometimes you will have weeks in the office and sometimes you will have full weeks traveling nationwide. At other times, you will have to drop everything and respond to an equipment failure. Clients may require installs, maintenance, and repairs outside of normal working hours which may include occasional nights and weekends.
- 'Assist clients and office staff with spare part identification, ordering, and shipment when necessary.
- Your customer service skills are above average – you go above and beyond to ensure clients are satisfied. Your interpersonal skills give you the ability to build and manage relationships with co-workers, clients, and dealers. Have proven experience and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Make product suggestions, process improvement recommendations, and provide after sales to clients.
- Possess computer skills and are capable of maintaining a CRM database, and you can keep a structural workplace on the company server as well as in our warehouse.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and possess a clean driving record. Passport required for travel to headquarters in Europe.
- Technical, associate degree or higher, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 2 to 3 years experience working as Field Service Technician.
- Job offer contingent upon passing background check and motor vehicle report.
Physical Demands:
- Candidates must be able to lift, climb, (including above average heights), move, pull and transport at least 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds maximum.
- While visiting client sites, the employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment including steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and/or respirators.
