Job Tile: Assembly  (No experience required but must be able to learn and adapt quickly)

Job Type: Temp to hire 

Shift: 1st shift 7:00am – 3:30pm  

Location: River Grove, IL

Pay: $15 to $16

Section 1 – Basic Purpose and Objective 

This position is primarily responsible for collecting components, cleaning, assembling and

testing pumps, cylinders, lift jacks and related products that are manufactured by Star.

Section 2 – Responsibilities 

• Review the Job Traveler and attached job/process/product/quality documentation in order to

• understand how to assemble and test products to meet our requirements.

• Ensure that all components are properly cleaned and prepped prior to assembly.

• If quality problems are present, identify the issues and discuss with a supervisor or directly

• with the previous operator to try and correct. 

• Meet the estimated job times as set forth in the standards or estimates for the job being run

• Meet the due dates as set forth on the Job Traveler or by the supervisor/manager

• Maintain a neat work environment using 5S and Lean techniques

• Work with others in a team environment

• Communicate effectively with shop manager and associates when there are questions,

• uncertainty and during normal processes to ensure quality product built right the first time

Section 3 – Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Measurement of Effectivity 

• Basic knowledge of how to use assembly and test equipment, tools and fixtures

• Understands and can effectively use calibration and measurement devices to check

• components, assemblies and completed products as needed by the product and processes

• called out

• Knows how to read drawings, work instructions, job travelers

• Knows how to physically lift, move parts and use the hoist if part is too heavy to move manually

Additional Experience and Requirements:  

• Must speak English.

• No experience needed, but must learn quickly

• Able to manually lift and move items up to 50 pounds

• Eyesight must be good enough to meet responsibilities as detailed above

• Willing to assist other associates when called upon. 

• Helps to maintain and improve the work environment.
