MATERIAL HANDLER  – Air Cargo PMC Builder 

Location: Wood Dale, IL  

Shift: Tuesday thru Friday  / 8am – 4:30pm (Full time – hours can be flexible)

Pay: $21.00 to $22.00

Our client is a leading logistics and transportation company specializing in air/ocean cargo services. 

Job Description:

   – Building air cargo pallets by stacking, arranging, and securing freight items onto pallet bases in compliance with airline regulations.

   – Ensuring that cargo is loaded onto pallets in a manner that maximizes space utilization, maintains balance, and prevents damage during transportation.

   – Using appropriate tools and equipment to secure cargo with nets, straps, or other securing devices as required.

   – Conducting visual inspections of all cargo items to verify integrity, condition, and compliance with safety regulations.

   – Checking pallets for stability, weight distribution, and proper labeling to ensure they meet airline requirements.

   – Reporting any discrepancies, damages, or irregularities to supervisory personnel for resolution.

   – Recording accurate information regarding pallet contents, weights, dimensions, and other relevant details for documentation and tracking purposes.

   – Completing necessary paperwork, such as air waybills, shipping labels, and load manifests, in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.

   – Maintaining organized records of pallet builds, shipments, and associated documentation for reference and audit purposes.

   – Adhering to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations governing air cargo handling operations.

   – Using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, or damage to cargo.

   – Participating in safety training programs and proactively identifying and reporting potential safety hazards or concerns.

   – Working collaboratively with warehouse staff, ground handlers, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

   – Communicating effectively with supervisors, coordinators, and other stakeholders to coordinate pallet building activities and prioritize workload as needed.


– Previous forklift certification preferred

– High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.

– Previous experience in the airline industry building pallets for air cargo. 

– Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

– Physical fitness and the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects safely and efficiently.

– Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and external partners.

– Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks, procedures, and technologies as needed.
